Semo Economics
We can’t fully change the destructiveness of an economic system that has all humanity as shareholders within its current design. Our economy is too complex with too many undesired powers to possibly make that happen before we have used up Earth’s biocapacity to such an extent that the already ongoing mass extinction on Earth has ended human civilization as we know it, followed by an almost unliveable planet. With earlier mass extinction events that happened on Earth, it took millions of years for Earth’s biocapacity to get back to a level of balance.
A Path to Conscious Spending
The only way to step out of ecological destruction and extreme inequality, is by creating a better alternative that will make today’s economic system obsolete. This alternative could consist of different economic systems, as is the case today. The Semo Economy is one proposal for such an economic system.
The Semo Economy will be designed for people and activities within the collaborative commons space and for marginalised communities. Think of:
- Developers of open source digital tools like Linux and Firefox
- People active in decentralised networks
- Sharing economy services
- Local communities with self sustaining properties
- Refugee groups
- Festivals
When the Semo Economy proves to have benefits over the traditional economy as we know it today, we will see more and more people opting out of today’s traditional economy, into the Semo Economy.
Semo Commons
With the Semo Economy, the Semo Currency will go through a redistribution by the Semo Commons with each transaction, making it possible to balance economic stability and to democratically and mathematically decide how we value every independent asset. In this way, an economically sustainable adaptation of Semo Payments in full representation of the Semo Scores is possible along with a universal basic income and other amazingly empowering economic tools. You could see the Semo Commons as a mathematically optimised tax system, but then basically to make taxes irrelevant and to connect real decision making directly to democracy.
